About Us
Imperfect Parents’ groups and antenatal courses are safe, inclusive spaces that welcome all parents, regardless of whānau structure, number of children, or gender identity. We offer wraparound support for your parenting journey, from comprehensive antenatal courses to parent support groups for parents with infants, evening groups for parents to attend without their children, and weekly nature playgroups for parents to attend with children of any age.
Our antenatal courses are taught by qualified childbirth educators and a midwife, offering evidence-based information that empowers you to make decisions for labour, birth and parenting that feel right for your whānau.
Our parent support groups are spaces for conversation and connection with other parents at a similar stage of parenting, with opportunities to share vulnerably about the hard parts of parenting, and to celebrate the good parts together. Honest, open sharing breeds connection and these groups can be a fast track to friendship and reduced feelings of isolation.
Koha spaces and payment plans are available, no questions asked, to ensure our groups are accessible, regardless of your financial situation.
Services
Imperfect Parents provides inclusive support groups for parents - from pregnancy to school-aged children - where you can connect with other parents, share experiences, feel less isolated, and gain confidence as you navigate the rollercoaster ride of parenthood.
Our parent support groups currently meet in different locations - in 2025 these will include Sandringham, Westmere, Hobsonville Point, and Orewa - and include parents from across the region. Parents register to attend a group for a term at a time, with many groups carrying over for two or more terms, so real, long-term friendships are formed. In general, our weekday baby groups work best up until babies are about 8-10 months old and becoming more mobile, at which point you have the option of joining our Nature Playgroup.
With a focus on inclusivity, these are LGBTQIA+ friendly antenatal classes, where there is no "one right way" to build a whānau and be a parent.
Our classes are located in Central Auckland (Westmere and Epsom), and attract like-minded parents from around Tāmaki Makaurau.
These groups meet fortnightly on Thursday evenings, facilitated by Joe Angus, and provide a unique space for connection for parents who may not be able to attend our weekday morning groups. These are an opportunity to gather, share experiences, and find community.
