The group is open to all who identify as a father, regardless of current relationship status, or how many children you have. It is designed for you to attend alone, without your child/ren.
If you have heard that parenting is easier with a village, but weren't sure where to find it, this is the place. This is the group that many of our Imperfect Parents have been asking for: a group that has been set up with the wellbeing of fathers at the forefront, because we know that social support is crucial for easing feelings of isolation, and increasing confidence and enjoyment in our roles as parents!
The Imperfect Parents' Group is a safe, non-judgmental space for honest conversation and connection. Simple conversation starters and gently-guided facilitation means that discussions get to the nitty-gritty deep topics much more quickly than the awkward small talk that can happen on the sidelines of other social occasions, and everyone has an opportunity to talk. Discussions are guided by the needs of the group members on the day, rather than following a set 'curriculum', which means that information, support and advice is relevant to what attendees are going through right then and there.
Sessions will explore topics like shifts in identity, learning to trust yourself and your child, responsive parenting and what this really means, navigating information overwhelm, parent wellbeing, relationship shifts, sleep, feeding, and so much more!
Previous attendees at Imperfect Parents' groups have said:
"I have found my village! My confidence in my ability to be a mum and trust my own gut has grown tremendously."
"I have gained so much! Camaraderie, support, confidence, a safe space to vent. Have really loved having a safe and welcoming space to meet other parents and babies."
"I have gained so much from your beautiful group. In the first instance: a village. The sharing of knowledge, or rising to the occasion for each other when moments hit hard, to the wisdom that comes out of sharing. It has deeply enriched my life and I would go as far as to say it has directly contributed to me feeling as though I have had the best year of my life. What a gift."
